Frameshop & Gallery Manager - Picture Framing. Art. Design.
The Company
We are an innovative and progressive frameshop and photograph gallery, called "photograph". We are opening our 2nd store, in lovely downtown Los Gatos, in late May. Los Gatos is an amazing vibrant, high end place to work and play!
Our neighbors are Apple, Banana Republic, Williams Sonoma and a variety of fabulous coffee shops and eateries!!
You may view us online at www.thephotographstore.com and see what the San Francisco Chronicle wrote about us, as well as our satisfied customers, from our San Francisco store, said, on yelp.com.
We passionately believe that our employees are our best asset and we are reasonable and flexible when it comes to the demands of retail scheduling. We listen to our employees.
To be successful at this job you will need to be passionate about art and design and a true "people person". You subscribe to the belief that your employees are as important as your customers and know that they must be made happy to achieve total harmony within the store. Ownership of the company believes that the total employee hierarchy is that of an upside-down pyramid - with the owner at the bottom, supporting the employees who are on the front lines with the customers!!!
Our Store Manager should be creative, have a passion for art, and some experience with custom picture framing, design or manufacturing. In addition, you should have an understanding of or experience with a production / assembly-oriented environment. Our Store Manager is supported by an Assistant Store Manager or a Shift Supervisor, a Lead Framer, and 4 to 5 Design Consultants.
You will work directly with the owner of the company, but be responsible for all operational functions of the store, including, but not limited to, framing, merchandising, opening and closing procedures, customer service, housekeeping, display and training bare a direct relationship to sales performance and financial goals. The Store Manager must insure that these operations are completed accurately and completely by the staff.
Customer Service: You should be ready to model, emphasize and teach the standards set forth for customer service at photograph. This not only involves traditional service, but also handling and addressing any customer complaints, criticisms, or problems, in a way that reassures the customer, and results in their problem being solved.
Can you work with your hands? Framing Operations: You will learn to teach basic framing skills and standards to new employees, when necessary. In addition, you will need to be aware of workflow, the fit calendar, due dates, and upcoming large jobs. You will work closely with the Lead Framer to insure that framing is being completed efficiently and with attention to quality. There is always framing to be done in this production-oriented environment.
Store Operations:You will also responsible for all non-framing operations, which include payroll, scheduling, training, housekeeping and maintenance, hiring, termination, administrative, and merchandising. The Store Manager should work closely with the Assistant Store Manager and delegate some of these responsibilities to him or her.
Can you be a teacher and coach? Staff development and communication are key. You should constantly be exposing the staff to new ideas and concepts, involving the staff in key decisions to improve the operations of the store, and teaching the staff new framing, design and customer service techniques. The Store Manager should be evaluating the performance of each member of the staff, on a regular basis, and provide feedback constantly.
You should also be providing valuable feedback to his or her supervisor about ways in which the supervisor can improve his or her performance as well.
Merchandising & Display: You will also be responsible for presentation of frames, mats and images. This involves installing and rotating displays, taking markdowns, putting away new receipts, as well as general housekeeping and stockroom organization.
Resumes should be submitted with a Cover Letter. References will be
requested. We offer 4th quarter incentive program, paid vacations, flexible
scheduling, and an employee discount.
