Grocery Category Manager

An established, well-repected supermarkt chain base in the southwest is seeking a grocery category manager to join their team.  Qualified candidates will have:* At least 5 years of prior Category management experience in the grocery or c-store channels * At least 4-6 years supermarket experience.  * At least 2-4 years Managerial experience. * Merchandising specialist or store manager experience in grocery, drug and/or mass channel. In this position you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: * Negotiate promotional allowance contracts for the assigned categories * Maximize the execution of all merchandising programs within the Category Management department, while at the same time supporting the overall company initiatives and goals (i.e. sales goals, shrink results, gross margin) * Implement sales, merchandising, and marketing strategies for the grocery department that supports the overall corporate vision * Write weekly ads for each of the respective categories by banner * Identify, develop, and implement `best practice' processes that speak to effectively enhancing our company EBITA period budget * Review category new items and negotiate shelf placement fees (slotting) * Effectively manage the plan-o-gram process with merchandising reset team * Manage category targeted gross margin budgets * Evaluate compliance of the grocery departments (Grocery, Dairy, and Frozen Food) to best practice standards and address any deviations with Store Management *  Monitor competitive activity regarding new items, programs, and pricing * Review departmental shrink of under-performing stores in each district * Facilitate effective communications between Operations, Merchandising (store resets), and the Pricing teams * Work with Store Directors to ensure they meet their financial goals including sales, gross profits, shrink reduction, and total contribution * Work closely with Operations to implement category programs and sales initiatives that will successfully drive profitable category growth * Proof ads each week for assigned categories Excellent comp package, re-location, temporary living and growth potentail.
