We are currently seeking dynamic candidates HARDLINES DEPARTMENT MANAGER  in the Frankfort, IL area. DEPARTMENT MANAGER: Responsible for overseeing sales, merchandise presentation, customer service and operational functions in the hardlines departments (including Team Sports, Fitness & Golf) within a store. Requires strong leadership skills to train, supervise and lead associates. Focus on driving sales through training, customer service and merchandise presentation.  PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION Oversee the merchandising standards for all hardlines departmentsto ensure customer satisfaction. Model customer service for associates and promote sales whenever interacting with associates and customers. Report any potential safety issues to Risk Management and any asset protection issues as needed. Walk the floor regularly to manage the floor for daily "on duty" responsibilities. Communicate with associates regarding pertinent information for daily, event or seasonal business issues. Address any employee complaints, grievances and questions as they arise. Maintain Company dress code for all associates in area. Accountable for increasing sales, units per transaction and transactions size in the department(s). Ensure execution of Company sponsored training programs. Recruits, interviews and is involved in final selection if all department associates.PREREQUISITE SKILLS: - 2-5 years experience in a retail environment, preferably in Big-Box Retail- Prior experience managing people or shown ability to manage people- Excellent communication and leadership skills and sound judgment. - Detail oriented and strong attention to customer service. - Ability/flexibility to work any store open hours. - Must have knowledge of local competitive environment. - Prior merchandising and planning responsibility necessary. - Ability to execute company standards successfully. - Must have knowledge of store computer systems. - College degree in business, fashion merchandise or marketing preferred. - Understand and facilitate Policies & Procedures and Audit procedures.
