Purpose: The Analytics and Optimzation Sciences (AOS) team supports Target Corporations goal of becoming the Best Company Ever, by applying their data analysis and optimization sciences skills to provide world class, actionable insights, create and maintain analytical best practices within AOS and more broadly across Target, and design, build and deploy analytical tools that empower Target business clients to optimize their business processes.As a Lead Optimization Analyst, you would be working on projects that address each of these areas: custom analysis, best practices, and application development. Your primary responsibilities would be: work with business clients to define and develop business objectives, develop analysis and/or development plans to meet business objectives, execute the analysis plan and/or development plan, and present the final analytical results and/or roll out the final solution. You will be expected to work with data access/reporting tools, data/statistical analysis tools, and optimization tools to support these projects.These are great positions for persons with strong leadership, business and technical skills who enjoy working in an environment that encourages independence, initiative, and creativity on truly strategic initiatives for Target Corporation. See Yourself: Work with business clients to understand analytical objective and associated business requirements and develop detailed analytical work plans that meet the business objective. Collect data necessary for the analytic projects and perform the analysis prescribed in the work plan. In the execution of the analysis plan, recognize when changes must be incorporated into the analysis plan and follow-thru on those changes. Summarize, synthesize, and present final project results. Ensure strong client service and satisfaction (and minimize problems and concerns) through pro-active project management of communicating progress and project timelines. Perform custom analysis (both statistical and non-statistical) to support business needs. Primarily, these analyses will require optimization: linear, integer, mixed integer, and nonlinear. To support these optimization analyses, statistical analysis may be required: customer segmentation, predictive modeling (response, sales, returns, profitability, LTV, etc), market basket analysis, and time series analysis. Develop optimization applications, utilizing callable optimization software packages (e.g. XPRESS, CPLEX) and optimization modeling tools (e.g., Mosel, OPL, AMPL, GAMS, etc). Develop best practices for the use of analytical and optimization tools by business end-users and GRA best practices with respect to their performance of custom analyses and optimization application development. Interface with business clients, AOS team members, Target Technology Services (TTS) and TTS partners to resolve issues concerning the execution and/or development of analytical projects. Participate in walk-thrus, reviews, and inspections of project deliverables. Interface with the Target business clients to present intermediate and final analytical results. For each analytics project, completely document all portions of the project that you are responsible for and/or accountable for. Act as a mentor to other team members.
