Linux/Windows Administrator
Linux/Windows Administrator
S&S Worldwide, a leader in the Catalog industry, seeks a Linux/Windows Admin to work in our Colchester, CT offices. This position will be responsible for supporting and maintaining in-house Windows and RedHat Linux servers, desktops, and peripherals. Specific responsibilities include installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, upgrading and documenting hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal system performance. The position will also install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems.
The position will troubleshoot problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required. The position will also support end-user applications and diagnose networking problems, and document solutions in a timely and accurate fashion.
S&S Worldwide requires a candidate to have or be willing to develop a broad skill base to effectively solve wide-ranging problems.
REQUIREMENTS
* Working knowledge of server hardware, disk storage technology, and TCP/IP.
* Installation and configuration of Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, and RedHat Linux.
* Experience with integration of UNIX and Windows operating systems and services (i.e. LDAP / Active Directory, SAMBA filesharing).
* Experience with Linux desktop configuration/X11, Perl, MySQL, DNS a plus.
You will also need a 2-year degree in computers or equivalent experience, an ability to multi-task and be a persistent problem solver. Excellent time management and organizational skills are a must.
Candidates with Server recovery/bare metal restoration, Veritas Netbackup backup software, and Windows Server administration duties are also encouraged to apply.
