MANAGER OF ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

· Accurate and timely processing of high volumes of inventory purchases with many vendors (1500 invoices/week), as well as operational obligations

· Gatekeeper to ensure that inventory has been properly received into the Inventory Management System before invoices are settled

· Work effectively with vendors to settle credits for damaged goods or goods invoiced but not received

· Will work closely with Operations to develop necessary policies and procedures to ensure proper accounting of all inventory transactions

· Review of all payments to determine a) appropriateness of payments b) the proper approvals for payment is documented and c) correct coding into the General Ledger

· Analyze Accounts Payable Aging in conjunction with vendor statements to ensure follow-through on past due invoices

· Vendor Research and problem resolution

· Maximize early payment discounts made available by vendors

· Develop a thorough understanding of the financial software and reporting systems.  Provide assistance and training to staff to ensure consistency across the group in how the system is used

· Posting of month-end accruals into the General Ledger

· Reengineer current accounting procedures to improve accuracy and reduce processing time

· Ensure financial integrity through the adherence of strong disbursement controls

· Partner with IT to maintain/develop the systems and to enhance the automation of processes

· The development and implementation of financials controls to comply with Sarbanes Oxley

· Will have an active role in the annual audit performed by D&T

· Ensure regulatory compliance by preparing all 1099’s

· Regular communication and development of the team

· Additional responsibilities, duties, and projects as assigned

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

· Strong leadership and management skills

· Take charge attitude and has experience processing high volumes; inventory purchasing

· Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks simultaneously

· Strong process re-engineering and workflow management skills

· Must be organized, detail-oriented and strive for accuracy

· Must possess strong verbal/written communication skills

· Must possess excellent customer service skills as the Finance department serves the needs of the employees and the outside vendors and customerws.

· Strong team player and team leader

· Familiarity with the use and functionality of financial applications

· Willingness and ability to lead others

· 5+ years of experience in the capacity of a full charge accounts payable manager/supervisor

· Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or business related field

· Accounts payable experience in retail is a plus

· Experience in managing high volumes of transactions with a staff of ~10 people

· Experience in managing payables related to inventories is a plus

· Experience in a paperless payables environment is a plus
