Manager, Business Development (Online Ad/Partnerships)

Barnes & Noble.com is seeking a marketing manager with strong partnership skills and business development / ad sales experience to support the company’s efforts to increase its advertising revenue. Reporting to the Director of Customer and Website Marketing, the Manager, Business Development will manage the company’s media rep firms, initiate and develop revenue producing partnerships, and perform all operational tasks related to running advertising online and offline. He or she is an articulate self-starter who has the strategic thinking to craft advertising programs with high revenue potential, the negotiation skills to close the deal, and the operational excellence to deliver on each campaign’s promises. Responsibilities Include: Manage email, site, and package insert advertising programs.Provide sales guidance to rep firms in accordance with advertising strategy/rate card and manage the ad approval process.Craft new advertising programs utilizing online and offline media and perform relevant testing.Partner with marketing and merchandising teams to gain an understanding of Barnes & Noble.com’s promotional calendar and maximize relevance of ads through targeting and contextual placement. Manage inventory, trafficking, and reporting to internal and external partners.
