Manager, Community Programming (Online Book Clubs)

Manager, Community Programming is responsible for managing our online community programs, with a focus on the Barnes & Noble Book Clubs, the online forum where readers and writers discuss books and literary issues. Work with publishers, authors and moderators to create to ensure a timely and compelling lineup of author guests and discussion boards that will inspire participation from our growing community of readers. Help define and expand other community programs and opportunities for user-generated content. Create interesting content and polls that will inspire community participation. Work with in-house programmers and outside vendors to expand features and community tools. Specific responsibilities include:Manage the weekly content and discussion schedule for the Book Clubs; scheduling author appearances, and coordinating with marketing staff.Provide day to day leadership of freelance moderation staff.Manage day-to-day interaction with book clubs technology provider.Ensure book clubs home pages and marketing accurately reflect current programming and are inviting to new users.Assist with management of Customer Reviews tool, video programs and user-generated content.Requirements:3+ years in similar position working with a large online community/discussion group.Extensive experience building and leading online communities and interacting with customers/community members.
