Primary job responsibilities and functions are listed below. An Associate in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the Facility as assigned and/or as necessary. Operations Actively practices the 3 Basic Beliefs and upholds ¿ the Ethics Policy of the Company. Enforces and ensures that Market/Facility personnel comply with all federal, state, and local regulations and Company policies and procedures (e.g., quality assurance, safety, health and sanitation, operations, personnel, licenses, fees, permits, subcontracts and agreements). ¿ ¿ Manages overall financial performance of the Market. Monitors and analyzes Market financial performance by reviewing financial reports (e.g., scheduling, payroll, revenue, expenses, Profit and Loss (P&L), unit sales, weekly operating report, and flash report), statements, and historical data. ¿ Manages the Market budget by controlling costs (e.g., labor, inventory, equipment, and materials), complying with budget requirements, and making adjustments when necessary. ¿ ¿ Creates projected Market Profit & Loss (P&L) statements. ¿ Establishes operating standards and communicates them to Associates. Visits each Facility to share and exchange ideas and experience with Facility management and Department Managers/Merchandise Supervisors. ¿ Develops strategic plans to ensure that long-term goals, vision, objectives, and overall direction of the Market support corporate and Region long-term goals and objectives. ¿ Develops and implements strategies that result in the achievement of sales, market share, account retention, or market growth targets. ¿ ¿ Develops a business plan and budget with each Facility Manager based on Wal-Mart, Region, Market, Facility, and Department goals. ¿ Communicates P&L results with Associates in order to improve Facility performance. ¿ Analyzes results of the STAR and oversees execution of plans. ¿ Creates budget by identifying budget needs and securing approval. ¿ Ensures that budgets and financial performance are in accordance with business strategic initiatives. ¿ Incorporates ¿good neighbor¿ actions into business plans. ¿ Responds to negative public relations on behalf of Wal-Mart. ¿ Serves as a liaison between the Home Office and the Field on resolving issues. ¿ Ensures that management team and staff have sufficient resources to perform their jobs and meet goals and deadlines. ¿ Determines resource requirements (i.e., staffing, funding, equipment) based on business objectives or operational needs. ¿ Aligns strategic imperatives (e.g., Customer, Wal-Mart) of Market with those of the Region. ¿ Makes strategic decisions based on business metrics. ¿ Analyzes Markets: Monitors the comparative strengths and weaknesses of competitors¿ services and/or products to determine the effectiveness of Wal-Mart¿s position in the marketplace and proposes marketing plans to capitalize on these data. ¿ Develops Sales: Grows existing services and creates new business opportunities within the Market. ¿ Serves the Community: Builds visibility in the community while personally representing Wal-Mart¿s interests. ¿ Assesses and Develops Talent: Develops a strategic talent plan to close capability gaps throughout Market taking into account the need to upgrade skills, address cultural barriers, and recruit, select and develop local talent. ¿ Embraces Diversity/Diverse Thinking: Creates an environment and shared vision where differences and similarities are encouraged. Determines and clarifies Customer needs and expectations, taking actions to address those needs ensuring Wal-Mart and Customer goals are aligned. ¿ Interacts directly with Customers to provide service ¿ and to build trust and confidence into the Customer relationship. ¿ Takes necessary actions to ensure that all Wal-Mart quality and service standards are met using Company inspection reports. Ensures compliance with the standards, regulations, codes, policies, and procedures set forth by Wal-Mart as well as government, regulatory, and accrediting agencies. ¿ Promotes and supports Good.Works. Programs by overseeing implementation and encouraging Facility participation to serve as a good member of the community. ¿ Serves as a liaison between Wal-Mart personnel, representatives of business and industry, trade and professional associations, the media, and/or the public. ¿ Oversees the Managers to achieve inventory objectives and ensure in-stock and appropriate inventory levels throughout Market. ¿ Identifies, researches, and monitors competition activities. Works with Management to devise corrective action plans to meet Customer service, merchandising, sales, profit, and other financial goals. ¿ Oversees Managers¿ review of merchandise labels of low, out-of-stock, overstock merchandise, and confirmations of accurate onhands. ¿ Analyzes product assortment to meet the unique needs of the community by consistently reviewing and reacting to competitive, demographic, and economic trends within the Market. ¿ Monitors the Back Room, including visually evaluating the area and verifying that merchandise is appropriately received and safely organized by Associates, consistent with the Back Room Program. ¿ Oversees Managers¿ evaluation of the sales and profit performance of products and develops action plans to improve merchandise sales. ¿ Teaches and directs supervisory positions in the completion of SWAS planning, including how to review sales, weather projections, and events in the Market to estimate merchandise needs. Provides specific and meaningful feedback pertaining to good performance, recognizing Associates¿ accomplishments and rewarding their efforts both formally (e.g., pay, promotion) and informally (e.g., recognition, praise). ¿ ¿ Motivates Associates by inspiring them to achieve and linking their performance to positive outcomes. Upholds and practices the Company's Open Door Policy by meeting with Associates and listening to concerns, researching issues, reviewing Company policies and procedures, and suggesting resolution for Associates. ¿ ¿ Demonstrates approved Good Faith Efforts to reach diversity objectives. Provides specific, meaningful feedback pertaining to substandard performance, pointing out deficiencies as they occur and providing corrective guidance and action as appropriate. ¿ ¿ Conducts management performance appraisals including establishing and tracking developmental goals. Ensures Markets'/Facilities¿ compliance with all Human Resources policy and procedural requirements of Federal, State, and local regulations and guidelines, including the Civil Rights Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, EEOC, FMLA, OSHA, and Wage and Hour. ¿ ¿ Creates an environment that promotes opportunities to attract and retain a diverse workforce. ¿ Manages succession-planning process for all management personnel in Market. Meet applicable eligibility requirements (see PD-05). Minimum Qualifications At least 6 years experience supervising Management Associates OR at least 4 years experience as a SuperCenter Store Manager. Preferred Qualifications BA/BS degree in a business-related field. 4 years experience as a SuperCenter Store Manager. 4 years of multi-facility experience (DM or higher).
