Marketing Director, New Business Development

Position Description: The Marketing Director is an experienced generalist who will be responsible for developing and delivering coherent marketing strategy (ies) that support business objectives for new initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible, as applicable, for all aspects of consumer marketing including customer insights, website development/maintenance, ongoing out-of-store/in-store consumer communication and brand equity management.  This individual will be the central point of contact for external agencies, and play a key integration role to ensure that the brand is communicated effectively and consistently across channels/touch-points and marketing investments supporting the business objectives. Reports to:  VP New Business Development Strategy and Marketing Key Accountabilities:    Marketing Strategy: Develop integrated customer-facing program(s) that align marketing objectives with available budget to define optimal marketing mix across channels and mediums.  Leverage new media, and other creative or cutting edge approaches to maximize impact with limited budget. Consumer Insights:  Define and direct marketing research program to provide relevant insights and metrics to relevant stakeholders (e.g. merchants (category trends, target customer behaviors); store design team (store planning, wait-times), and strategy/management group (competitor insights, customer satisfaction)). Program Execution:  Develop integrated marketing campaigns that support business objectives of building brand equity, generating consumer awareness and driving store traffic.  Be the central point of contact, working with home office, operations and agencies to ensure quality and consistency of all marketing messages, collateral and programs.  Specific program responsibility will likely include store opening programs, website development and maintenance, and all other consumer facing out-of-home communication (e.g. radio/print/billboard ad campaigns).  In-store Marketing:  Work with merchant team and store experience team to ensure consistency of brand tone/voice in all in-store communications and store design initiatives (e.g. price/promotion programs, in-store signage design) Brand:  Be the brand champion. Identifying opportunities to build and strengthen brand equity by for example establishing clear logo style and usage guidelines, or defining and maintaining a brand scorecard. Supplier Partnering: Work collaboratively with suppliers to develop integrated Brand & Supplier co-equity marketing programs. Programs could include new item launches, seasonal promotions, or participation in grand openings.   Required qualifications/experience:   BS/BA degree in Marketing or related field; MBA preferred 5-7 years experience as a marketing generalist with specific experience in directing agencies, building and monitoring brand equity and developing and managing marketing programs An ability to communicate and execute accountabilities through external / vendor resources Experience managing advertising and/or creative agencies required Experience in retail, or other consumer service industry highly preferred Experience working in a start-up environment an asset Travel is required (typically 3-5 days per month)To apply, please email resumes to cdames@wal-mart.com Application Instructions: Please apply online by clicking the apply button below.
