Merchandise Manager - Broadway

We operate 36 stores in the Northeast, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic, and we are currently seeking a talented Merchandise Manager to join our team at our Broadway location in New York! 

The Merchandise Manager is responsible for building a strong and profitable business for Filene's Basement by directing all activities relating to merchandise flow, presentations, and standards.  The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of progressively more responsible retail management and apparel merchandising experience, in a large and fast-paced retail environment. 



Responsibilities:Directs the merchandising standards of the selling floor to maximize sales and profit. Analyzes competition and customer profile to identify business opportunities. Directs merchandise presentation standards consistent with company merchandise strategies and plans adjustments for physical limitations.  Facilitates merchandise floor moves. Reviews each department for correct classifications based on recent trends or current merchandise strategies. Monitors sales and inventory and resolves any inconsistencies with General Manager and Corporate Merchandise Organization. Trains and develops Department Managers and Group Managers. Provides ongoing coaching and counseling to staff. Participates in supervision of store as Senior Executive on a rotating basis.

Requirements:At least 5 years of progressively more responsible retail management and apparel merchandising experience is a must.  Prior department store experience preferred. Must have exceptional apparel merchandising skills and the ability to drive business. Proven ability to build partnerships with all levels within an organization Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team and prior success in training and developing staff. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including nights and weekends.
