Summary:

Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks. Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Troubleshoots network and system performance issues and assists with the disaster recovery plan. Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. Provides direct technical support and guidance to users. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Reports to Network Manager.

 

Job Responsibilities:Support and manage the MS Windows 2000, 2003 and XP servers on various hardware platforms Support MS SQL, Exchange, Communicator and other MS based applications Responsible for new user creation and setup Support end-users by investigating and resolving problems with in-house and remote applications and hardware issues Troubleshoot desktop performance related issues System Administration of  Domain Controllers, DNS, WINS and DHCP Provide first level support in LAN/WAN troubleshooting (TCP/IP, switching, MPLS) Focal point for network related projects Develop troubleshooting guides, user, topology and system documentation Optimize all equipment to improve reliability and service level agreements Maintain current knowledge on emerging technologies as applicable Performs other duties as required.

· Individual must be detail oriented and have initiative.

· Individual must work well under tight deadlines and multitask accordingly

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Ability to sit for long periods of time

 

Education and/or Experience:

 

· Vendor certifications or 0-2 years experience as a Network Administrator

· Enterprise level retail environment experience a plus

· Knowledge of wireless technologies

· Experience with the following technologies: MS suite of applications, including Windows XP, Outlook, Exchange
