General Company Overview:

Retail Convergence is an e-commerce company leveraging 7+ years of merchandising, marketing and technology. The Company has as its core, the SmartBargains.com web site, www.smartbargains.com .

By leveraging its customer file and analytics, its technology, its marketing and merchandising capabilities and its team of associates, Retail Convergence will:

•  Operate SmartBargains.com

•  Develop and launch new e-commerce businesses leveraging the SB.com platform, including its first initiative, www.ruelala.com

•  Grow revenues and profitability of the businesses

The Company launched its first major new e-commerce business in April of 2008. The new business, www.ruelala.com is an event-based e-commerce destination.

Retail Convergence was formed by a purchase of SmartBargains by a new investor group. The investor group includes strategic partners in the retail, brand development and e-commerce space.

 

Purpose and Scope:

The Online Art Director will be responsible for the conception, design and execution of innovative visual materials for integrated, cross channel initiatives including: large web initiatives, online advertising, digital marketing, print advertising and/or direct mail. This individual will possess keen design skills. In addition to being an exceptional designer, you will be required to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work closely with internal clients.

 

Principal Responsibilities:Conceptualize web projects and take the lead in their implementation, thereby creating a range of designs for each project. Collaborate with peers and executive management in production, copywriting, product development, marketing and business development. Understand our business, brand and marketing objectives, proactively contributing to its evolution and success. 

Education and Experience Requirements:Bachelors degree in design, fine arts, illustration or other related field 5-7 years web design experience with an outstanding and diverse portfolio of interactive work Demonstrated success conceptualizing and developing highly functional, user-friendly web sites Expert-level experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, HTML, ImageReady, graphic optimization, GIF/Flash animation, web-safe palettes and browser compatibility  Strong design sense for color, layout and typography Knowledge of user-centered design and information architecture principles Mentoring of junior designers/production artists Proven ability to meet deadlines Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) as well as strong analytical skills and work ethic E-commerce experience a plus
