Operations Manager - Mt. Olive Distribution Centerjob SUMMARY: Guiding and directing the building and fleet in its day-to-day operation with the goal of achieving the financial/functional goals of the Distribution center.  Assist the Distribution Center General Manager in any duties required. ESSENTIAL duties and responsibilities: · Develop, implement, maintain and improve the operational functions of the DC and fleet while achieving effective and efficient service to our stores with a focus on quality, productivity, safety and loss prevention. · Manage the operating budget to meet the planned budget for the fiscal year.  This includes cost analysis / P&L accountability and understanding.  Seek out and implement operational improvements. · Develop manpower planning, recruitment, staffing of exempt/nonexempt associates as well as succession planning. · Interface with Management Support team of the DC and Global Store Support Center to ensure goal achievement in all areas of the operation. · Contribute to and support all company sponsored programs and initiatives.  Provide positive leadership through both normal and adverse situations.  Seek out opportunities to maintain and enhance morale. CRITICAL SKILLS: · Budget/Sales Responsibility: Yes· Direct Reports: Yes · Specific technical training (i.e., CPA, Engineer, etc.) Other:  Solid communication skills, computer skills (Microsoft applications), interpersonal skills, analytical and math skills, problem-solving skills and organizational skills. Education and Experience: · Bachelor’s degree in Management, Logistics, or related field and/or  relevant work experience.  · A minimum of five years management experience.  Previous distribution center experience a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to maneuver through storage racks, trailers, and other areas of the warehouse.  Requires ability to use office equipment including, but not limited to, phone, keyboard, monitor, and calculator.  Must be able to communicate effectively, both in person and on the telephone.  Could be asked to provide physical activity including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and walking (up to 80% of day).  Could be asked to operate equipment found in a distribution center environment including, but not limited to, material handling equipment. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:   Inside average office environment 20% of time; inside warehouse environment 80% of time.  Depending on location and time of year, extreme high and low temperatures within the building will be experienced.  Average noise levels within the office environment; noise level within the warehouse are within normal decibel level.  No personal protective equipment required.
