Photo Retoucher

Garnet Hill, a growing high-end multi-channel marketer specializing in original designs in clothing and home décor, is adding a new in-house Prepress Department and is seeking experienced Photo Retoucher to perform photo retouching, including color correction, swatch matching, organizing and proofing to maintain and enhance the creative integrity of the final product.

 



KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Perform color correction, photo retouching, mask cutting, swatch matching and page assembly; demonstrating sound design and production principles to produce high quality color output.

· Produce technically accurate and content correct material within defined timelines to meet design and production expectations and requirements

· Maintain print specifications and continuously refine for optimal printing results

· Maintain quality results, proactively evaluating projects from a technical and stylistic standpoint and effectively communicating concerns and opportunities to drive continuous improvement

· Communicate color mark-ups and mechanics of pages with in-house art department

· Work with printers to calibrate proofing systems and continuously improve color results

· Identify, recommend and coordinate solutions for digital photography challenges from a technical quality and workflow standpoint

· Recommend technological advancements or “best practices” into the prepress production process

· Other responsibilities as directed and necessary for the business

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· 5+ years experience in a prepress to print environment

· Experience in preparing files for four-color offset printing

· Experience working in a high quality catalog and multi-channel retailer environment within the apparel and/or lifestyle brands a plus

 

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

· Proficient in Photoshop

· Experience in Digital Photography and CMYK workflow (RGB workflow a plus)

· Experience maintaining prepress equipment including calibration, profile refinements, etc. a plus

· Experience in InDesign, proofing and asset management a plus

 

SKILLS:

· “Artful” color sensibility with the ability to visually inspect material and distinguish all colors and color ranges

· Extremely high attention to detail

·  Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines

· Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment
