Principal Programmer Analyst- Help Desk Developer/Tech lead

The Help Desk program provides the technical foundation for incident management, configuration management, knowledge management, and service management with Staples. Supporting Staples internal help desks, this program fills a vital role in the day-to-day operations of our business. The Enterprise Services team is seeking a bright, business-driven individual with the passion and drive to deploy technology for the help desk environment that supports the operational effectiveness of many Stables Business Units. The candidate will work with IS/IT technical teams to identify and deliver new features, allowing us to expand the help desk offerings across the enterprise. The candidate will also work with our help desk vendor(s) as well as our on-shore and off-shore partners to ensure and improve the stability of the help desk applications. Design and develop new functionality for all help desk applications and infrastructure that are reliable, maintainable, scalable, and perform highly under sustained load.Actively participate in all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle including define, design, development, deployment, and support and maintenance of the help desk applications.Serve as technical lead on medium to large size projects.Create technical specification documents for new functionality and ensure that new solutions integrate seamlessly with existing technologies in compliance with Staples IS Standards & Strategy.Coordinate and actively participate in the resolution of incidents involving the help desk environment.Be a strong technical resource for Enterprise Services development team.Work with on-shore and off-shore resources as well as vendors to insure, and improve, the stability of the help desk environments.Participate in the definition of future direction of for the help desk environment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required2 - 3 yrs experience with HTML, XML, JavaScript.2 yrs programming in J2EE.Basic familiarity with ITIL.Usability design experience preferred.Experience with BMC Remedy preferred.Familiarity with BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere or TomcatExperience with Database technologies (like DB2, Oracle, MS SQL) Object-Oriented design and methodology.Process-oriented.Excellent written and oral communication skill.Excellent requirements gathering and documentation skills.Project management experience preferred.
