Coolibar is a direct retailer of sun protective clothing and accessories products through our specialty catalogs and the Internet, is currently looking for a Product Development Specialist to join our growing merchandising team.  If you have an innate sense of style and fashion, high energy and a passion for excellence this is your opportunity. 


Under the direction of the VP Merchandising, this position is responsible for all technical approvals, documentation and administrative functions as required from the early stages of product development to the completion of the production process.  The Product Development Specialist will collaborate with the design team, the overseas offices and quality assurance to drive efficiency and consistency in development of new products and timely production delivery.

 

Other responsibilities include conducting raw material research and testing, market development analysis and trend research, developing detailed technical garment specs, and fit standards. In addition, this person would help communicate with international vendors and follow through on sample development. 

 

Qualified candidates must posses a BA/BS degree along with 2 – 5 years related experience and the following knowledge, skills and abilities:



·  High level of competence in MS office including Excel and Word

·  Analytical and mathematical skills

·  Understand basic garment construction and fit concepts

·  The ability to do flat drawings/sketches for design for enhanced communication purposes

·  Assertiveness and strong initiative

·  Possess the ability to meet deadlines and work in a team environment

·  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

·  Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

·  Must be able to travel occasionally (both domestic and international)

 

Other skills: Working knowledge of various CAD software tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop a plus
