Purchasing Manager

Position Description:

This position is responsible for managing the corporate purchase of expense and capital related items as well as various supply items used at the store level. Directs the purchasing process from product choice, bid solicitation, contract negotiation and final selection. Researches and resolves any store or corporate supply issues. Develops, maintains and expands vendor base. Supervises the corporate copy center and oversees store associate uniform program, copier and fax machine leases, as well as record retention and destruction. Process and authorize store and corporate purchase requests which includes verifying need, vendor search and selection, price quotes, and approving purchase orders. Vendor relations, which includes meeting with vendors to discuss corporate concerns; resolving any outstanding issues; evaluating vendor performance; and cultivating new vendors. Handle store supply questions; research supply problems; authorize special shipments if necessary. Manage other members of Purchasing Department as well as Copy Center. Assign tasks based on associate experience and skill level. Develop staff members and cross-train them in other areas of department.Confirm and sign-off invoices; identify and resolve any billing discrepancies; Draft annual budgets and monitor expenditures for Copy Center/Purchasing and Copier/Fax cost centers.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Supervisor experience a must. Ability to meet strict deadlines while working in a multi-task environment. 5-7 years of experience as a Purchasing Manager. Excellent oral and writing communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and personnel issues. Strong presentation skills with the ability to be a self-starter. Good Microsoft office skills.
