Job Title: Purchasing Specialist
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Luxor has an immediate need for a Purchasing Specialist at their Waukegan, IL location. The person will be responsible for providing order execution and fulfillment, supplier relationship management, supplier performance oversight, quote analysis and negotiations.
SUMMARY OF COMPANY:
Located in northern Illinois since 1946, Luxor designs, distributes and markets an extensive line of quality specialty furniture for offices, schools, libraries, health care and automotive facilities. Luxor’s diverse product line includes mobile equipment tables, computer workstations, video production centers, TV/VCR mounting systems, presentation easels, overhead projector tables, secure storage systems, book trucks, audio-visual storage cabinets, multi-purpose utility carts and more.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Performs order execution and fulfillment for Luxor product and services
· Works with management to identify and qualify suppliers by creating a pool of suppliers and conducting research to assess supplier capabilities and financial stability
· Understands the total cost of materials and supplies purchased, including cost of quality and transportation
· Must embrace continuous improvement and have the ability to identify issues, problems, and opportunities while maintaining effectiveness in a changing environment
· Must stay current with market trends of key materials and supplies to assure continued procurement in a timely, cost effective manner
· Monitors supplier results by using the performance metrics of quality, service and cost
· Coordinates with international suppliers, brokers, and freight forwarders regarding the procurement of products and services
· Researches product information as it relates to company needs

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Education required/ preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Math or other related fields
· Experience: Minimum of two years experience in procurement/supply-chain
· Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Sage/MAS software purchasing experience a plus
· Preferred Skills/Qualifications: APICS/CPM/CPSM certification is a plus
· Skills/Competencies: Basic understanding of the entire supply chain and concepts
· PC skills required: MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and MS Project
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
· Reports directly to Director of Sourcing
· This position has no direct reports
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles
