Description of position:
The Rational Unified Process (RUP) QA Analyst is responsible for helping to evolve, document, implement, and monitor RUP software testing practices and procedures and Quality Assurance processes and work products for the following roles: Test Manager, Test Designer, Test Analyst, and Tester. This position is also responsible for helping to mentor and train the IS QA team in the Costco RUP discipline, Configuration & Change Management, and on the effective use of ClearQuest, Test Manager, RequisitePro, and other SQA tools.

 

 

Responsibilities: Responsible for helping to evolve, document, implement, monitor, and ensure adherence to RUP IS QA processes and guidelines for Costco QA through strong collaboration with management and the project teams. Responsible for creating/modifying RUP templates for QA work products and for working with the QA team to ensure that project teams adhere to those templates. These templates include, but are not limited to: process guides, test plans, test cases, test and/or audit reports, defect reports, defect writing guidelines, training guides, and QA schedules. Responsible for providing a RUP compliance process and a QA perspective while participating in requirements gathering and use case workshops and reviews, ensuring that the quality and thoroughness of the documented requirements and/or use cases meet established standards. Responsible for being familiar with source code management, and code deployment standards and tools and for utilizing this knowledge to ensure that sound SQA processes and procedures for test environments are followed and that the integrity of the various environments is not compromised. Responsible for helping to mentor and develop other members of the IS QA team in QA-related RUP processes.Responsible for helping to mentor and train members of the IS QA team on effective usage of the SQA and Rational tool set.

 


Qualifications: Proven ability to train and mentor project teams in the RUP methodology and with Rational testing tools Demonstrated knowledge of the RUP, iterative development, and related QA processes, work products and tools 2 years experience leading QA efforts utilizing RUP 2 years experience creating effective test plans, test cases, and other QA work products Proven ability to create effective test cases & scripts from use-cases and supporting documentation 2 years hands-on experience using Rational RequisitePro, ClearQuest, TestManager, and TestBench or similar industry standard requirements, defect tracking, test case management, and test automation tools Must clearly understand the RUP and be able to articulate the collaboration required between the various RUP disciplines Proven ability to diplomatically advocate for and implement process improvements Excellent mentoring, presentation, and training skills Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, combined with excellent verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to work under pressure and to effectively multitask Working knowledge of source code management and deployment processes and tools Responsible, conscientious, and the proven ability to deliver under minimal supervision 4-year degree in computer science or related technical field or equivalent work experience

 


Additional Qualifications/Experience Desired: 5 years experience working in client-server/RDBMS environments with one or more of the following operating systems: AS400, IBM System i, Windows Server, or UNIX Experience with multiple Costco business areas/systems RUP certification from IBM Rational The ability to perform complex tasks and mentor in 1 additional RUP discipline
