Remote IT Manager The Fulfillment Center Remote IT team provides 24x7 support of IT hardware, software, servers and infrastructure in an on-site and on-call capacity for the Amazon.com Fulfillment Centers. The successful Remote IT Manager will be responsible for utilizing his/her skills to provide assistance to the operations team in resolving technical problems within the Fulfillment Center that covers a multitude of technical disciplines.Remote IT Manager: Amazon.com is looking for a Fulfillment Center Remote IT Manager. This is a great opportunity to expand your technical horizons in a dynamic setting. Successful candidates will have at least one year of management experience and knowledge of the following disciplines: Unix Systems Administration, Windows Server Administration, Networking, Telecom, Help Desk/Technical Support and Data Cabling/Computer Facilities. Flexibility and customer service focus as well as a demonstrable technical aptitude and a willingness to learn new skills are the key to being successful at this position.Candidates must have demonstrated leadership skills in a high-production environment. He/She will be responsible for coordinating training, managing resources, and directing the efforts of a small staff in a 24x7 environment. These efforts include coordination of trouble tickets, project distribution, staff scheduling, meeting with customers and operations management, and representing the FC site in team and availability meetings. Candidate must be forward thinking with a high degree of customer service focus and excellent communication skills. This is extremely critical to bridging the communication lines between Remote IT and Operations. The manager must also ensure that trouble tickets are properly documented and SLAs accounted for. The manager may also manage the Junior Remote IT crew as well.  Including, but not limited to staff scheduling, ensuring all SOPs and procedures are followed for inventory checkout, battery maintenance and proper inventories of IT related equipment.Remote IT Managers must have a good understanding of computers (both hardware and software) and a demonstrated willingness to learn and apply new technology. He/She must possess superior technical aptitude, written and oral communications skills, project management and the ability to deal effectively with people. Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability desired.We require previous experience in which high levels of initiative, judgment, and tact has been demonstrated. In addition, you will need a proven ability to operate in extreme high pressure situations, successfully handle multiple priorities and possess a high level of discipline while displaying a high degree of flexibility.Technical Qualifications:Linux/Unix System Support Win 2000/XP System Support Networking knowledge Telecom knowledge Help Desk / Technical support experience Data Cabling / Computer Facilities knowledge Ability to develop clear, concise documentation to lower the possibility of a repeat problem Ability to develop the skills needed to support specific Fulfillment Center Automated Systems Ability to escalate problems for any technical support needed for resolution of problems.
