Retail Associate/Assistant Buyer - Non-Apparel

JOB SUMMARY: 

Assists in the achievement of assigned category gross margin, sales and total inventory turn objectives.  Monitors and assists with the implementation of merchandise plans.  Ensures accurate support documentation for orders, advertising and samples.  Provides data on product cost, prices, vendor performance, and demographics.  Coordinates with merchandise planning & allocation as well as store operations teams.  Analyzes performance regarding SKU’s, vendors, sales, margin, and inventory.

 



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



 

Qualified candidates must possess the ability to:

§ Assists in the achievement of assigned category gross margin, sales and total inventory turn objectives.

§ Monitors and assists with the implementation of merchandise plans. 

§ Ensures accurate support documentation for orders, advertising and samples. 

§ Provides data on product cost, prices, vendor performance and demographics. 

§ Coordinates with merchandise planning & allocation as well as store operations teams. 

§ Analyzes performance regarding SKU’s, vendors, sales, margin and inventory. 

§ Makes recommendations to supervisor for merchandise plans changes

 

May assist in the following…

§ Selection and purchase of merchandise including type, quality, source, timing, delivery, mix and promotion for assigned merchandise category.

§ Creates and implements plans to maximize gross profit by coordinating sales, gross margin, inventory turnover, cost of promotion and markdowns for assigned category.

§ Develops and communicates effective merchandising programs at store level.  Ensures beneficial vendor alliances.  Identifies new business opportunities consistent with VCDS business short and long-term strategies. 

§ Maximizes division product mix, gross margin, promotional expenditures and markdowns.



 

QUALIFICATIONS:



 

§ BS Degree in Retail Merchandising, Marketing, or Business; or equivalent experience

§ 1-3 years assistant buyer, store planner, or store allocator experience

§ Strong analytical skills

§ Solid verbal and written communication skills
