Summary of Basic Functions:

 

Provide superior customer service while brewing coffee and tea, using coffee urns, drip or vacuum coffee and tea makers, and other kitchen equipment. Perform various duties to assist in filling customer orders, operate cash register, accept payment from customers, and make change. Clean and polish utensils and equipment used in beverage and food preparation. 

 

Specific Functions:

 

• Provide superior customer service as currently defined by the employer within the scope of the position and within company policy.

• Brew coffee, tea and chocolate.

• Prepare orders for customers.

• Operate electronic cash register to total customer’s final bill.

• Accept payment, make correct change for customers.

• Responsible for clean-up activities to maintain cleanliness of coffee service area and store.

• Knowledge of proper procedures and coffee bar layout.

• Setting up and maintaining displays in coffee serving area.

• Working knowledge of company’s policies and procedures as outlined in the Randalls / Tom Thumb Employee Handbook and Orientation Handbook.

• Satisfactory completion of the new store employee orientation and money handling programs.

• Complete start of shift and end of shift reports as instructed by store mgmt  to ensure proper recording of sales per shift.

• Inspect and clean dept/store equipment and work area to meet company safety and cleanliness requirements.

• Share responsibility with clerks for solving problems, coordinating work activities, handling complaints, implementing policies, and ensuring employee safety.

• Practice and instill Company’s Superior Service standards and Safety standards with employees.

• Train and supervise clerks on everyday responsibilities to ensure proper follow through.

• Communicate daily with assigned Store Director/Mgr in Charge regarding operations and employee issues.

• Conduct inventory, receive orders, order supplies, and stock products according to Company standards.

• Schedule all clerks on a weekly basis to ensure proper staffing levels.

 

Working Conditions:

 

•  Working in varied temperatures.

• Working in a fast paced environment.

 

Physical Functions and Methods:

 

• Independent mobility in the coffee service area with frequent neck rotation, bending/stooping and twisting to clear/clean areas/tables.  May use stepstool or ladder to reach upper level shelves. 

• Constant standing while on the job. Constant walking while on the job. Sitting is allowed on breaks.

• Occasional bending of neck/head and squatting.  Constant knee to shoulder reaching, occasional above shoulder reaching.

• Manual dexterity sufficient to handle cash register keys, broom, trays, and bus dish pan, etc. Constant handling/graspingAbility to effectively communicate with coworkers and customers.  Vision sufficient to operate machinery and cash register, accept payment, make change, read menu items and ensure correct meal goes to correct customer. Ability to interact with customers and co-workers to provide superior customer service.

• Lifting up to 40 pounds, constantly lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling from 1-10 pounds, frequently lifting 20-30 pounds

 

Secondary Functions:

 

• Ability to work a flexible schedule.

• Professional appearance and above average communication skills.

• Perform other duties as required.
