Our corporate headquarters is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Database Analyst to join our dynamic team.

 

Summary:

 



As a Senior Database Analyst, this individual will be part of the team that is responsible for analysis, design, build, test and implementation of production enterprise data warehouse, and Analysis Services/Reporting Services, while providing architectural guidance in these areas for the largest business service franchise network in the world.

 

This individual will also be responsible for database administration of the production databases and provide 24/7 on call duties. The primary focus of this position will be the responsibility of maintaining the production data warehouse and creating reports for business analysis.  The secondary focus of this position will be production database administration.  This individual will work as a key contributor in a cohesive and highly productive team environment.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

 Maintain, design, and build data warehouse for production enterprise databases.Design and develop reports against the data warehouse using MS reporting services.Create various pre-calculated data warehouse objects like the “calculated members” and “ranks,” etc.Work closely with business departments to provide innovative ideas for new reports and data modeling to assist business decision making.Explore and utilize data mining and data modeling functionalities of MS Analysis Service.Provide guidance, design, planning, and execution for Analysis Services and Reporting Services upgrade from 2000 to 2005/2008.Design and implement reporting user interface “Performance Points” of Sharepoint 2007 integration with Reporting Services 2005Review, analyze, and provide guidance for work products developed by software development group, including products developed by outside vendors.Manage database changes using best practices in configuration management.Consult with the software development staff on system upgrades, or patches, to coordinate a schedule for applying the required changes.Configuration, administration and maintenance of the MBE SQL servers.Manage data backup process and ensure ongoing data integrity.Monitor the corporate databases to ensure the corporate systems are available to the entire franchise community.Provide visibility to the performance of the corporate databases.Act upon production alerts, anomalies, and changes.Work with Network Engineers to coordinate network problem resolution.Actively contribute to ongoing process improvement activities.Participate in product and project meetings.Provide time estimates and schedules for completion of project tasks.Provide status reports to management.Raise issues as needed and follow through on resolutions.Provide mentoring, training, and leadership to the junior members in the DBA team.

Education and/or Experience

 

Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.Minimum of four years of work experience in MS data warehouse field using OLAP/Analysis Service.Minimum of three years experience of full time or part time database administration.Minimum of two years experience of reporting services.Minimum of three years experience of full time or part time MS SQL Server development is a plus.Strong understanding and working knowledge of SQL Server 2005, 2000 and 7.0Strong problem solving and analysis skills.Demonstrate ability to meet commitments.Strong attention to detail.Internally motivated, with strong sense of initiative and desire to seek out and accept new challenges.Working knowledge of version control principles.Good understanding of software development life cycle.Must have experience working on projects from conceptual design to implementation.Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment. Ability to multi-task in a dynamic working environment.Knowledge of project management methods and practices.Demonstrate knowledge of development methods and practices in a multi-platform environment.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:

 Strong oral and written communication skills.Good planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.Must be able to work independently with moderate supervision.Able to work extended time seated and in front of a monitor.
