Senior Financial Analyst - Payroll

Position Description:

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for overall financial planning, budgeting and ongoing performance analysis of Pacific Sunwear’s store payroll expenses. This individual will establish oneself as a critical and integrated business partner to the Store Operations and Field leadership teams.The position requires an experienced business professional who is ambitious, self-directed, and capable of working autonomously or with the broader leadership team to achieve the business and financial goals of the department. The role has a mix of recurring responsibilities and initiative-based work that provides a high degree of exposure to department leadership and requires an individual who can anticipate analytical needs and continuously prioritize accountabilities.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES? Produce recurring payroll reporting such as forecasts, budget/earned hours vs. actual, by store evaluations, etc. to be performed in a timely and accurate manner (e.g. weekly or monthly). Proactively identify and implement ways to improve performance diagnostics and provide early warning to spending deviations and/or risks/opportunities. ? Lead the annual planning process for store payroll and benefits, including overall project and timeline management, cross-department priority setting and detailed financial analysis and projections. Proactively interface with department leadership as necessary to ensure creation of accurate, timely and insightful budgets. Compose narratives and other relative summaries to clearly communicate key information. ? Perform standard to fairly complicated analysis of financial data. Understand source systems as necessary to obtain financial information for above activities and analyses. Perform rigorous investigations of data sources in order to ensure accuracy and prepare reports of results to department leadership.? Perform additional analysis or ad-hoc projections to alert management to business trends or assist with decisions. Interface with department leadership as necessary to accomplish above accountabilities.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS? Four to six years of relevant professional experience, preferably within retail, information systems or related industries.? High degree of business acumen and exceptional analytical and problem solving skills. Must be able to synthesize information into actionable recommendations and analyses.? Adaptable in using organizational skills to prioritize tasks and opportunistic in taking ownership of various projects.? Urgency to anticipate busy schedules and communicate with other members of the department to complete assignments on time.? Demonstrated integrity in research/analysis and relentless commitment to accuracy.? Strong computer skills, including use of Excel, database applications, query software? Excellent oral and written communication skills.? Strong Ability to work as a team member. EDUCATION ? Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting.
