Senior Manager, External Reporting

Position Description:

A large Orange County, California based specialty retail company is looking for an External Reporting Manager to be responsible for the company’s timely preparation and filing of SEC documents. The position reports to the Controller and is responsible for managing all External Reporting tasks• Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation and filing of all external financial reports, including the filing of all required SEC reports, which include Forms 10-K, 10-Q, S-3, S-8, and 8-K and the annual proxy statement and reports required to be filed with the US Census.• Review SEC filings to ensure compliance with all SEC reporting requirements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Work closely with the Accounting/Finance team to ensure timely and compliant reporting.• Perform technical accounting research on current and emerging US GAAP and SEC requirements that directly impact the Company. Prepare internal technical accounting memorandums and associated analyses as needed.• Research and assess impacts of complex accounting and external reporting matters, such as restructuring, impairment of assets, business combinations, purchase accounting, discontinued operations, stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, internal labor capitalization, technical lease accounting, convertible debt, etc. • Prepare analyses and accounting entries relating to complex accounting issues such as impairment, inventory LCM reserves, etc.• Interface and manage the external reporting process with external auditors, Investor Relations and management, including preparation of required schedules, reconciliations and analyses as needed.• Manage the preparation and review process of the Company's financial press releases on a monthly basis.• Contribute to ad hoc projects on accounting/finance-related matters, as necessary.• Analyze certain new agreements and amendments and prepare summary accounting treatment memos.

Qualifications:

• BS degree in Accounting• CPA with 7 to 10 years experience either as a Senior or Manager at a big 4 public accounting firm and/or in a large public company• Must have at lease two years of hands-on SEC reporting experience• Extensive knowledge of GAAP/SEC regulations • Detail oriented and ability to produce work with a high degree of accuracy• Highly proficient computer skills (Excel/Word/Access)• Exceptional writing skills• Comfortable working within tight timelines, able to handle multiple tasks and cope with pressure and changing priorities• Strong communication skills and professional presence• Strong organizational skills• Lawson proficiency a plus
