Job Responsibilities: The Senior Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for collaborating with the business to develop and deploy reporting and data analysis solutions; delivering value to business leaders through Business Information. You will lead BI Initiatives through the system development lifecycle. In this role you will manage projects and coach associates. Responsibilities will include analysis, design, development and testing of the BI Applications; such as Portals, Dashboards, Scorecards, Reports, Alerts, etc. A strong understanding of Data Modeling Techniques is also required. The position reports to the Manager of BI. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Project Management – Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects, meet business expectations, influence outcomes and maintain stated timelines. Ability to adjust activities to provide operation support along with new development. Oversees, defines and monitors critical path project tasks. Provides status reporting on project progress, deliverables, and anticipated delays. Resolves and escalates issues where appropriate. Manages user and leadership expectations. Use Project Management Tools such as Microsoft Project. Coaching Associates – Works with Analysts and Developers to build processes and applications. Provides general coaching and technical guidance. Requirements Definition- Interacts with PetSmart business leaders to gain insight into current and future BI reporting and data needs. Seeks to understand business processes and challenges. Writes design documentation. Analysis/Design - Partners with Business and IT Associates to design BI Front End Solutions. Analyzes the feasibility of functional designs for BI Systems. Architects solutions taking into account functional and technical requirements, impacts on other systems, and performance targets. Partners with ETL Experts to develop logical and physical data models; then designs reporting application to sit on top on the Business Data Warehouse. Write functional and technical specifications. Coding/Configuration – Leveraging BI Tools, develop solutions to design specifications. Microstrategy BI Tools include the Intelligence Server, OLAP Services, Report Services, Web Professional, Web Analyst, Web Reporter, and Narrowcast. Improve upon and suggests changes to coding standards. Performs performance tuning. Assist in these development activities and perform code reviews Testing - Develops or provides oversight in unit and system test plans. Ensures all test conditions are included. Document plans that can be easily followed by others. Reviews test plans of others. Implementation - Completes change control documentation such as a Migration Checklist. Provides oversight to the completion of the change and any defines back out plans. Support – Strong affinity for problem solving required; out of the box thinking in areas of functional work around’s, performance tuning, etc. Off hours support rotation required. Software Selection - Evaluates 3rd party applications against defined requirements and develops comparisons between available solutions. Makes software recommendations Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Computer Science or a related field. 8+ years of I.S. experience including technical leadership roles. 6+ years of development with BI Tools a plus. PetSmart Applications includes MicroStrategy, Microsoft Reporting Services, Microsoft Share Point, Toad, PLSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, Access, Informatica, & Tibco. Experience with other similar tool sets can be substituted. Experience with advanced BI Areas a plus; such as Predictive Modeling, OLAP, Geo-spacial Analysis, Flash, and Mobile Reporting Experience with a BICC – Business Intelligence Competency Center / Center of Excellence a plus Experience with Managing consultants a plus (on shore and off shore) Excellent oral and written communication skills.
