Position Description:Applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis to research design, develop, test, and evaluate software and systems. Works with others in developing corporate and Web applications that meet the demands of a rapidly growing retail business.
Job Responsibilities:Works with others to develop systems that help meet new demands of a rapidly growing business.Plays key role in preparing systems design and specifications suitable for program productionDesign program logic to meet specifications suitable to programming standardsDesign, develop, test, and implement efficient computer programs in authorized programming languages ensuring system development integrity according to industry-accepted standards and practices.Develops and maintain program and operational level documentation according to standardsCoordinate builds, migrations, and rollouts of software releasesHelps project team with analyzing system development opportunities by gathering data, reviewing company operations, evaluating alternative methods and preparing time estimates according to project guidelines Accurately estimate development time and coordinate/develop work and project plans Work with project leader to keep projects on schedule and recommend needed action to meet deadlinesWorking with a project leader, participate in detailed studies and analysis of business requirements and recommend technical solutionsWork with project leader to keep projects on schedule and recommend needed action to meet project deadlines Effectively interact with all IT staff members, including programming staff, Data Center Operations, system users, Business Leaders and ManagersPartner with management by interfacing with user groups to determine new project requirementsEstablish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activitiesAddress problems in a timely and informative manner and escalate issues when neededAssist in developing test plans and ensure all systems perform according to the specifications Develop and implement test scenarios Automate testing activities by creating test scripts or using a testing tool Coordinate or lead portions of various development projects as assignedBenchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systemsDemonstrate performance to maintain or surpass skill level requirements reflected in the role/skill matrix for this position.Train others on use of technical or functional toolsProvide guidance, leadership and mentoring to less experienced staff members.Other duties as assigned
Skill Requirements:BS in Computer Sciences or related field, or the equivalent work experienceIn depth knowledge of applications development, including systems analysis and design techniques, problem determination, project control, contract/vendor administration and structured system development methodologiesAbility to communicate highly technical information in an understandable manner to non-technical audiences through writing and presentations.Strong analytical skills; ability to perform complex systems analysis and draw conclusions by relating information from different sources, including root-cause analysis and issue resolutionDemonstrated leadership in significant software development projects. Experience mentoring other development staff and leading by example. Strong ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly6+ years experience using Microsoft software development products, including Visual StudioObject oriented programming/design experience; Project experience using C# and .NET requiredMSSQL database development experience including authoring stored procedures, scripting, query optimizationExperience working in an N-tiered architecture environment Ability to assess business needs and determine appropriate technical solutions using the latest IT trends and standards.Willingness to document all work according to internal standardsHighly self-motivated and directed, keen attention to detail and exceptional customer service orientationRetail background highly preferredFamiliarity with SAP applications and AJAX a plus
