Sr Payroll Tax Accountant

Prepare and submit federal form 941 and federal form 940 for all companies. Also, ensure delivery of business results by meeting or exceeding all service level agreements. Assist the Manager Payroll Tax and Reporting with any special projects (i.e. acquisitions, budget). Audit weekly EFT tax payments for accuracy prior to submission to Staples Treasury. Provide payroll earnings and tax breakdown for Executive Compensation department Assist in Year End processing, which includes, preparation and submission of W-2 Mag media to SSA, prepare test scenarios & follow up with validation of results for creation of W-2s and create and submit W2-Cs. Complete amended returns. Coordinate testing of PeopleSoft tax updates and system upgrades with the Manager Payroll Tax and Reporting and the Project Manager – Payroll Systems and IS. Work with IS & Payroll Systems for application of PeopleSoft tax updates which includes, review of release notes for the purpose of understanding and highlighting changes that impact Staples-specific processing, preparation of scenarios & analysis of test results and validation and User Acceptance Testing sign-off in accordance with the deadlines established in the annual PeopleSoft Tax Update schedule. Act as a resource for payroll tax questions for the team as well as other departments.Requirements: Associate or Technical Degree 1 to 2 years experience Cash office and/or retail store experience a plus Strong analytical and problem solving skills Exceptional customer service skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Team oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access and Word
