Are you looking for a job that requires 'fun' on a daily basis.The Scholastic Store is looking for a high-energy individual to run it's flagship store in the heart of Soho. The store boasts 5,500 sq. feet of the best in children's books, toys and activities.Scope of ResponsibilitiesThe Store Manager’s responsibilities include overall store and staff management and accountabilities, merchandising, and operations. This position requires prior retail store management experience.Specific ResponsibilitiesSales – 60%Demonstrated sales and managerial selling skills required.Superior customer service skills required.Takes proactive role in achieving or exceeding daily, monthly and hourly sales goals providing daily goals for sales staff. Accountable for achieving sales plan.Takes proactive role in events, parties, activities, sales drives and special promotions to ensure sales goals are achievedManagement and Operations – 40%Maintain a high level of customer service by ensuring that staff is actively assisting customers, register and customer service area is servicing customers in a timely manner, and merchandising/tasking is executed productively.Accountable for smooth and efficient operations of the store on a day-to-day basis including timely and productive receiving, re-stocking of shelves, ticketing merchandise, re-merchandising, the reconciliation of all cash and inventory transactions, and general housekeeping. Ensures store environment is safe for children at all times. Leads hiring, scheduling, staff management, and ongoing training and development of sales and stock associates. Provides employee feedback and ensures the staff complies with sales and merchandising expectations. Assists with routine operational tasks and maintains housekeeping standards in store and stockroomAccountable for managing supplies for store, activities, and parties. Takes proactive role in establishing and carrying out shrinkage control disciplines and programs and accepts high level of responsibility for store’s shrinkage performance.Maintains interior and exterior store appearance.Ensures store-level compliance with all company policies, ethical standards, safety standards, facility maintenance, postings/notifications and other administrative duties as identified and/or as directed by Senior Store Manager
