Supply Chain & Logistics Strategy Project Manager Intern

Summary: The Project Manager position is designed to develop potential leaders for Staples North American Delivery's Logistics Operations. In this position, you will be exposed to many aspects of Staples Supply Chain and Logistics Strategies in order to provide immediate contribution to Staples business and growth objectives and to ensure cross-functional exposure in preparation for future career opportunities. General Responsibilities: *Provide strategic support and project management capability relating to the implementation of Logistics network project plans. *Data analysis, supply chain and financial modeling in support of recommendations *Development of business cases in order to compare alternatives and to support recommendations *Track and drive achievement of milestones and deliverables *Coordinate service improvement and cost reduction opportunities across the network. *Coordinate with cross-business functions (i.e. sales and replenishment) to verify key project assumptions. *Provide project leadership. *Drive various groups and cross-functional projects to promote smooth implementation of Supply Chain and Logistics initiatives. *Develop project plans to meet deadlines for major initiatives. *Communicate project status effectively to all levels of management and staff. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: *Masters Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field. *Strong data mining capabilities - i.e. looking for patterns and outliers and sanitizing data accordingly. Ability to distill analyses into strategic insights. *Computation/mathematical ability and reading comprehension of technical/financial materials and reports. *Understanding of inventory management practices, supply chain practices, replenishment, transportation, and/or distribution and fulfillment operations desired. *Demonstrated analytical thinking, strategic and problem solving capabilities. *Demonstrated responsibility, maturity, and leadership ability. *Possess a sense of urgency required to work in a deadline driven environment. *Eagerness and ability to learn - absorb new information quickly. *Strong oral and written communication skills, especially with regards to mediation and/or facilitating groups toward mutual goals. *Experience and working knowledge of logistics systems and processes, productivity standards, and technology. *Demonstrated experience working as a team player versus as an individual contributor. *Initiative to work with minimal instruction and direction.
