Responsible for product integrity and interpretation with respect to design, manufacturing, quality, and cost. Preps tech specs, works with designers, and factories to ensure that the specifications and construction are in keeping with the product brief.QualificationsResponsibilities:"Implements specification and construction standards for merchandise division and/or private brand, producing accurate specification packages including but not limited to sketch details, construction, and packaging details."Conducts sample review sessions making appropriate recommendations for specification and construction issues. Soliciting input from Sr. Technical Designer and/or Manager as needed."Organizes and prioritizes daily workload to meet deadlines, partnering Sr. Technical Designer and/or Manager as needed."Coordinates sample approval process with cross-functional partners to meet all deadlines, raising issues to appropriate level for resolution in a timely manner."Supports Technical Design workload by assisting other Technical Design team members during costing season and/or as needed."Identifies the support needed for each home division and the workload involved. Organize staff and structure to meet the needs of the business."Directs and has responsibility for short and long-term planning, deployment of resources, budgeting and expense control."Develops strategies to support private brand growth and to improve the larger technical design department s overall effectiveness."Works in conjunction with Sourcing, Buying and Design partners to resolve any issues or concerns regarding product design. Assists Design partners in developing and revising products to meet company guidelines."Stays current with trends and technical advances in the home industry.Requirements:"Minimum of 3 years of retail, manufacturing or design experience, or equivalent"3-5 years of technical design experience"Bachelor s degree in fashion design, merchandising, textiles, or equivalent industry experienceBenefitsAs a Sears professional, your career path options will be determined by your performance as well as your desire to advance further within Sears organization.
