PRIMARY FUNCTION Under the direction of the Sr. Technical Designer, develop and execute a technical development process that ensures product adherence to defined quality standards established for specific owned brands. Provide timely resolution to all issues relating to the manufacture of the products.Comply with Product Design and Development processes, procedures and best methods to ensure efficiencies and speed to market. Evaluate and approve product samples to ensure brand integrity is maintained and product is compliant to all federal guidelines as it relates to the product's performance. Provide technical product guidance and collaborate with Design, Fabric, Trim, Digital Design Technologies (Textile Design), Target Sourcing Services, and Merchants to ensure quality product designs are executable and meet set price points.See Yourself:Product Development Partnering with Designers, Merchants and Sourcing to understand the business initiatives, product functional requirements and performance expectations to ensure consistency of product across all categories within a given brand. Ensuring brand integrity through leadership in the development of product that continuously exceeds guest expectations, aligns to assortment pricing strategies, maintains consistency in brand quality across product categories and supports ongoing innovation and differentiation of the brands. Participating in CFTMs (Cross Functional Team Meetings) as a representative of the Technical Team to provide technical expertise as it relates to developing consistent product and ensures brand integrity through the development of product that continuously exceeds guest expectations, aligns to assortment pricing strategies, maintains consistency in brand quality across product categories and supports ongoing innovation and differentiation of the brand. Providing efficient and effective development of product technical specifications to include: raw material standards, product dimensions, technical drawings, cut & sew assembly instructions to ensure compliance to government regulations, proper labeling adherence, completeness of fabric and technical specifications and maintenance of pre-established quality standards. Creating technical specifications (using Freeboarders or Adobe Illustrator) to include technical drawings and construction details to depict the desired product. Managing the product lifecycle to ensure all milestone dates are maintained as it relates to technical development. This may require follow-up with TSS and/or vendors to ensure samples are received in a timely manner Conducting timely sample evaluations and ensure approvals of all products are meeting the specification and Targets standards leading to the issue of a final production specification. Providing timely resolution to all issues relating to the manufacture of products. Partnering with Target Compliance and Production Services (TCPS) (Quality Assurance) to understand and review product performance protocols and develop product to meet those requirements. Maintaining a working knowledge of product manufacturing and Business Partner capabilities to ensure the manufacturing capabilities of the Business Partner meet the needs of the product being produced.Research Maintaining a working knowledge of government labeling requirements, safety protocols and Target performance standards for products across soft home categories. Staying abreast of benchmarks and market trends through regular competitive shopping and other resources to identify recurring trends in order to ensure we are developing product to support our merchandising strategies. Understanding benchmarks for specified owned brands to continuously evaluate and compare Target products to that of the competition and ensure Target product meets or exceeds the aesthetics and performance of the competitors product.
