The Transportation Manager is a key partner in ensuring timely resolution of all issues arising from the processing of inbound and outbound shipments.  Provides accurate information to Merchandising and Planning departments, maintains tracking measures to provide visibility and enable Receiving and Shipping departments to operate as effectively and efficiently as possible.  Negotiates pricing and service agreements with service providers (Ocean and Domestic carriers and port agents), managing budgets while striving for market excellence !

 



Primary Responsibilities: 

·  Negotiate pricing and service with service providersManage tracking and tracing systems for all inbound and outbound shipmentsManage relationships  with service providersIdentify and resolve issues with shipments in a timely mannerManage Port Agents and International Shipping / International Customs RegulationsProvide clear and accurate communications to all vendors, carriers, and internal  departments Manage staffManage all transportation claimsManage transportation projects effectively and efficiently as assigned by Director of Logistics geared toward improving overall supply-chain efficiencies

 

 

Job Skills Required:Extensive knowledge with international traffic to include consolidators, freight service providers and shipping methods, international customs regulations, port agents, and government agent regulations affecting supply chain managementVery strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to manage complex projects and make presentations to senior management and various partiesAbility to work with complex vendor network within the Supply Chain network, carriers,  merchandising, logistics management, carriers, port agents, and senior managementMust be proficient with spreadsheet applications to include Excel and AccessAbility to create and manage budgets

Requirements:

·  Minimum five years  International Transportation / Logistics Management roleFour-year college degree in a related field preferred
