Unix System Administrator

The Unix System Admin is responsible for the overall operation and support of Gymboree's Unix based systems.  This person will be responsible for performing software installations and upgrades to Unix operating systems.  This person will monitor and tune the system to achieve optimum level of performance.  The Unix Sys Admin will be responsible for troubleshooting complex problems and determining remedial actions required to resolve problems.  This person will also be responsible for installing and configuring new servers.  This position requires 24 x 7 support for production systems and performance of backup and recovery activities

 

Requirements:

 

BS degree in Computer Science or related field.   Must have in-depth knowledge of Sun Hardware platforms like Fire v880, v1290 & E4800.  Must have 5+ years experience with Sun-Solaris in box building, configuring, upgrading  and performance tuning.  Must be proficient in Veritas packages (VeritasVolume Manager, Veritas Database Edition, and Netbackup).  Must have experience with Sun Solaris & Veritas HA environments as well as with RS/6000, pseries servers AIX and its LVM.  Required Unix scripting skills in Shell, AWK and Perl as well as in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS,  NFS, DHCP and Sendmail.  Must have in-depth knowledge of Raid, Fiber Channel Storages.  Required after hours and weekend support.  Must have ability to resolve complex support issues routinely.  Must have excellent customer service skills coupled with strong project management and solid interpersonal skills.  SAN experience is a plus.  Sun certification is also a plus.
