Vice President of Merchandising

Company is supermarket chain of 100+ stores doing business in the New England market. VP of Merchandising directs and coordinates the merchandising functions of the company. Will report to the Sr VP of Sales and Merchandising. Responsible for ensuring that budgeted sales and margins are realistic within each functional area in order to attain corporate sales and profit projections.

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

* Establish yearly and quarterly budgets that reflect the company's sales, margins, inventory (with VP of Supply Chain), administrative payroll and profit projections.

* Establish and approve sales plans for all areas.

* Monitor all departments’ retail pricing by reviewing and consulting with each merchandising department on competitive price checks.

* Develop new techniques of merchandising.

* Formulate and recommend merchandising policies and objectives or changes in existing policies and objectives. Ensure compliance with and implementation of approved policies and objectives.

* Ensure sound services and working relationships with key staff of important customers and vendors.

* Supervise the Perishable, Grocery/GM, Private Label and Pricing Departments. Monitor inventory level and inventory turns.

* Direct all sale and merchandising meetings, ad meetings and special promotion meetings.

* Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor’s Degree.

* 10+ years of experience in a similar position

* Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey information both verbally and in writing.

* Ability to manage others and demonstrate follow-through to achieve desired results and objectives.
