Under the command of the Chief of Police, David L. Maggard Jr., the Irvine Police Department has a sworn staff of 178 police officers, supervisors, and command staff who are assisted by 87 civilian personnel. The entire department is committed to a Community Oriented Police Problem Solving (COPPS) philosophy and its workforce interfaces closely with all segments of the of the community, as well as with other city departments. The department is a full service public safety agency that provides several special program areas including Emergency Management, Crime Prevention, DARE, School Resource Officer, K-9's, Traffic Enforcement, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, General Investigation, Crime Scene Investigation, Special Investigation (Vice & Narcotics), and the Special Operations Unit (SWAT).
The Irvine Police Department is seeking Police Officer Recruits
The purpose of positions in this classification is to attend a prescribed law enforcement training program for newly hired Police Officers. The class is reserved for individuals who are Police Officer trainees attending the required POST basic police academy program. Upon successful completion of the required training, employees may be promoted to Police Officer on a probationary basis, maintained in a training status, or dismissed.
Salary: $39,185.00 to $86,218.00* (*Top step Police Officer Salary with Advanced POST), 4/10 & 3/12 Work Schedule, City Paid Safety Retirement, POST Certificate Incentive Pay, Bilingual, Specialty & Performance Bonus Pay, 2, 3 or 4 Weeks Vacation (Based on Longevity), City-paid Medical & Dental + others
