Security Officer Basic Requirements:

-  Must be at least 18 years of age or older as required by applicable law.

-  Must have high school diploma or GED.

- Must have valid drivers license.

-  Must be authorized to work in the United States.

-  Successful completion Security Officer Training course, SORA (see below for more information)

-  No criminal convictions. A criminal background check .

-  Negative result on a pre-employment drug screening.

-  Neat and professional appearance & friendly, professional demeanor.

-  Ability to provide quality customer service.

-  Ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively at client site.

-  Must have at least two forms of ID (social security card, driver's license, passport, work authorization, etc.).

-  Must have working phone and reliable transportation.

 

 

Security Officer Training Act (SORA)

 

The SOS Security Academy, located in Parsippany, NJ is a state-of-the-art training facility. Our state-certified instructors teach the twenty-four hour course of instruction required under SORA. Our training staff can guide you through the registration and licensing process. We have on-site live scan fingerprinting equipment, which expedites the process and eliminates the long wait for a fingerprint appointment at a state site.

 

Enrollment in the SOS Security Academy is open to anyone who meets the minimum state requirements. Our training staff can answer all your questions and assist you in becoming a New Jersey Registered Security Officer. (fees are associated with this program)
