Purchasing Specialist
Essential Nature Of Job: Under the direction of the VP of Operations, this position is responsible for purchasing materials/components and estimating cost for materials needed to execute installations of Safeguards projects.
Key Essential Work Performed:
1. Administration of purchasing for each project as specified by the contract.
2. Maintains and updates documentation to ensure accurate records are kept.
3. Provide critical role of supply chain development, and management.
4. Establish high-quality sustained vendor relationships to support purchases.
5. Provides input as required in planning, policies, standards and budgets for the purchasing.
6. Consult with project manager and customers to determine their requirements and priorities.
7. Ensures that all forms, records and correspondence are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis
8. Negotiate with vendors for broad purchase of goods and services, reviewing bids to ensure the best possible price and service guarantee
9. Establish and approve vendor account / credit and terms
10. Support systems and standards to effectively and efficiently manage inventory, ordering, and receiving of products.
11. Establishes purchasing policies and ensures compliance
12. Provide estimations for bids. Keeps current with prices and technologies.
13. Performs additional duties/assignments that may be required from time to time.
The responsibilities associated with this job may change from time to time in accordance with the Company’s business needs. More specifically, the incumbent may be required to perform additional and/or different responsibilities from those set forth above.
Position Requirements:
1.) BA/BS or equivalent work experience preferred.
2.) Some Technical knowledge and/or Electronics components purchasing experience is a plus.
3.) 4-6 years experience in purchasing / supply chain management.
4.) Demonstrated ability to plan, manage and work with minimal supervision.
5.) Successful track record of accomplishing goals, projects and tasks.
6.) Strong written and verbal communication skills.
7.) Some travel may be required.
8.) Proficient in manufacturing software, as well as MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, MS Project.
9.) Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization and external customers
