System Technician

Branch 11 – Bloomington, IN     Job Description     Position Title System Technician    Classification: Non-Exempt  Department: 4222 (Install) 4322 (Service)  Status:     Full-time Pay Grade  Hourly - 8    Reports To:    Service Manager   Primary Functions:  Ø Inspect and service of fire alarm and suppression systems Ø Install Fire Alarm, Suppression, and engineered systems to specifications and quality expectations Ø Check out of all wiring and final terminations Ø Assemble and program new panels and equipment Ø Sell and promote Koorsen products and services Ø Respond to trouble calls Ø Complete and process required paperwork in a timely fashion Ø Maintain established client accounts and develop new business Ø Represent Koorsen in a professional positive manner Ø Ensure high level of customer service, satisfaction and communication Ø Ensure continued communication and cooperation with Koorsen staff Ø Follow safety rules and good driving habits Ø Follow Koorsen policies and procedures Ø Other duties as assigned by supervisor   Education and Experience Requirements: Ø Minimum High School Diploma or GED with 2 years working experience OR Ø High School Diploma or GED, plus a Trade school or certification with no experience   Skills Requirements: Ø Customer oriented interpersonal skills Ø Technical and/or Mechanical knowledge and abilities Ø Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and schematics Ø Must be willing to attend training sessions and mandatory meetings Ø Must be able to obtain required Certification(s)   Essential Functions and General Requirements: Ø Must be able to read, write, speak and comprehend acceptable business English. Ø Must have regular and punctual attendance. Ø Must have strong mathematical skills.   Ø Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and safe driving record. Ø Must be able to access all areas of route vehicle, including loading & unloading materials Ø Must be able to access and tolerate small crawl spaces. Ø INTENSE LIFTING REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50-lbs. Ø Must be able to climb ladders and tolerate heights reaching a minimum of 12 feet Ø Must be able to recognize safety alarm sounds and sights Ø This position requires the handling of chemicals that may be skin and respiratory irritants. Must not be sensitive to these materials, MSDS are available.
