Business Analyst/Project Leader
The IS Business Analyst/Project Manager is responsible for all activities involved in managing and coordinating IS projects from project initiation to closure, and on-going enhancement and support, according to USBC project management and software development methodologies. Such responsibilities include:
· Conduct business analysis and requirements gathering and documentation.
· Conduct risk and gap analyses, and develop functional process flows and use/test cases.
· Advise IT management on project management and software development methodologies and improvements.
· Lead programmers in the development of projects including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, removing obstacles, resolving prioritization conflicts, and overseeing results.
· Manage IT projects, including development/management of project plans and other documentation.
· Adhere to and enforce use of USBC’s project management and software development methodologies.
· Work with project sponsors and owners to guide and assist them in requesting approval of projects and use of IT resources.
Because this position is in the IT department, the individual is expected to have a background working in a technical environment, with a good understanding of how technical projects are managed, developed and deployed.
Business Analysis
· Conduct business analysis and requirements gathering and documentation, working with project sponsors/owners and IT management/programmers to determine project feasibility and scope, and identify, assess, prioritize and document project deliverables.
· Conduct risk and gap analyses to identify how business processes can be improved. Develop functional process flows and use/test cases for use by programmers in project development and testing.
· Advise IT management on project management and software development methodologies and improvements.
Project Management
· Lead and manage IT projects from initiation and analysis, through closure and maintenance, to support development of new software applications and enhancements to existing ones, including appropriate documentation, monitoring scope and documenting/analyzing change requests. Lead programmers in the development of such projects including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, removing obstacles, resolving prioritization conflicts, and overseeing results.
· Prepare and maintain project plans and timelines, reporting progress to management and owners, as well as advising of delays and obstacles, through regular and consistent status reports. Adhere to and enforce use of USBC’s project management and software development methodologies.Work with project sponsors/owners to guide and assist them in the approval of IS projects and use of IS resources. Oversee the closure of projects including getting agreement from project sponsors/owners that projects are not complete, documenting unfulfilled needs, and advising IS management that resources can or can not be released from projects.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Technical Management required.
2. 5-7 years of experience in Business Analysis and Project Management required.
3. Demonstrated experience as a business analyst in a large organization, including analyzing and documenting business and process requirements, and guiding project owners through definition and discovery required.
4. Demonstrated experience managing technical projects required.
5. Demonstrated experience using a formal project management process and producing project documentation required.
6. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Project required.
7. Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to work in a team environment required.
8. Strong research, interviewing and analytical skills required.
9. Demonstrated experience as a business analyst in a large membership organization preferred.
10. Experience using Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio preferred.
11. Experience with SQL queries preferred.
12. Working knowledge of databases and software development processes preferred.
Physical Requirements
· Sitting for extended periods of time
· Able to perform computer tasks for extended periods of time.
This position will be located in Arlington, Texas, following training to be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
