Summer Pool Manager - Frisco Athletic Center (Part-Time)

Summary: Under the general supervision of the Aquatic Center Supervisor, assist in the supervision of the New Recreation and Aquatic Center. Ensuring the New Recreation and Aquatic Center is staffed, maintained and operated in a safe manner.

 

 

The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this position. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties in this description and incumbent(s) may be required to perform position-related tasks other than those specifically listed in this description.

 

Essential Job Functions:

· Oversees daily swimming pool operations, activities and facilities in a safe manner.

· Plans, trains, organizes, assigns duties and directs activities of pool staff. 

· Monitors the safe enforcement of pool rules and regulations by the pool staff and patrons.

· Maintains records and reports on daily attendance, maintenance, money receipts, and prepares cash register closeout at close of business day.

· Performs daily and weekly pool maintenance including vacuuming, brushing sides of pool, preventative maintenance, chemical checks, water tests, back wash filters and changing of chemicals.

· Maintains and prepares purchase orders for pool inventory and supplies.

· Provides guidance, discipline, evaluation and direction to assigned staff.

· Maintains and protects assigned City resources and facilities.

 

 

Other Important Duties:

· Assists and provides staff coverage in performance of assigned duties.

· Travels to attend meetings, conferences and training.

· Treats minor injuries and prepares incident reports.

· Responds to and resolves inquiries and complaints from patrons or parents.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

· Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

· Knowledge of pool maintenance and operation techniques.

· Knowledge of customer service practices and techniques.

· Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and procedures.

· Knowledge of money handling policies and procedures.

· Knowledge of City policies and procedures.

· Skill in responding to emergency situations including safely rescuing drowning victims and administering CPR and First Aid.

· Skill in effective oral and written communications.

· Skill in planning and implementing department and swimming pool practices and procedures.

· Skill in effectively supervising and delegating duties to assigned pool staff.

· Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.



Preferred Education, Experience, and Certifications:

· High School Diploma or G.E.D., and three (3) years Lifeguard, Swim Instructor or related experience, or two (2) years as an Assistant Pool Manager; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Must possess current Lifeguard, First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator, Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certifications.

· Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and/or post-offer physical exam.

· Must possess State of Texas Drivers License.

 

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

· Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor aquatic environment.

· May be subject to exposure to extreme weather conditions, hazardous chemicals, fumes, infectious diseases, air and water borne pathogens.

· May be subject to extended periods of swimming, bending, reaching, kneeling and lifting such as instructing patrons, administering First Aid or CPR.

· May be subject to working extended or split shifts including mornings, evenings and weekends.

 

 

Equipment and Tools Utilized:

· Equipment utilized includes personal computer, copier, calculator, fax machine, other standard office equipment, cash register, cleaning supplies, pool safety and rescue equipment, pool filters, pumps, vacuums, sweepers and department vehicles.
