Business Intelligence Business Analyst

The Business Intelligence Business Analyst plays the leading role maintaining the alignment of the U.S. Data Warehouse with the evolving U.S. business intelligence needs. The Business Intelligence Business Analyst will be responsible for gathering and documenting U.S. business requirements for business intelligence; analyzing new source data to understand data definitions and context; defining and documenting with data stewards U.S. OW data validation procedures; actively participating in data modeling workshops with data stewards and IT resources; collaborating with IT team members to produce project deliverables for business case, functional specifications and acceptance testing; monitoring OW production data quality to ensure that validation rules are appropriately robust and alerting data stewards when new validation requirements may be required; and educating users about the data content and business rules of the U.S. Data Warehouse. Key Tasks & Responsibilities (in order of importance and time spent; indicate % of time spent on each duty):Data Warehouse Enhancements - 50%: Validate that data modeling and transformation logic design correctly apply the business rules and policies governing the data relationships. Gather and document U.S. business requirements for business intelligence. Analyze new data sources to understand data definitions and context. Develop, with data stewards, business requirements for data validation rules and transformation processes.Data Quality Monitoring ? 30%: Monitor U.S. Data Warehouse data quality to ensure that data validation rules are appropriately robust for production environment stability. Alert data stewards when new data validation requirements for production environment may be required. Support data stewards in root cause analysis of production data quality issues and remediation. Respond to user questions regarding data profile attributes such as data source, DW validation rules and DW transformation logic.IT Governance - 20%: Provide comprehensive User Requirements for U.S. Data Warehouse projects. Collaborate in development of robust Business Case for U.S. Data Warehouse projects. Review all Functional Specifications for U.S. Data Warehouse projects. Support U.S. business with development of User Acceptance (Beta) Testing documentation for U.S. Data Warehouse projects.Education/Languages: Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree is highly desirable.Professional Skills & Experience: 10+ years of experience in data warehousing business intelligence. 10+ years of experience in requirements gathering and analysis. 10+ years of experience in data analytics. 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry supporting commercial and essential service organizations. Strong familiarity with third party data sources such as IMS, WK Health and EDI transaction sets. Ability to write complex SQL queries to analyze and manipulate large data sets. Understanding of best data modeling principles for normalized and dimensional data structures. Strong ability to effectively communicate on a technical and business level.Highly Desirable: Understanding of Informatica ETL workflows and mappings. Understanding of agile project management methodologies and SDLC processes. Able to work as a team player and independently based on needs.Personal Skills & Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to assess and communicate issues clearly. Strong problem-solving skills.
