Category Development Manager - Dallas

This position is based in Dallas and will be responsible for developing Category Management strategies and activities for a large off premise chain account. This will include the development and implementation of market and retail strategies and goals.Responsibilities: •Assume role of National Accounts expert of external syndicated data software applications. Train National Account Team on the use of standard features. •Provide National Account Team/Division Staff with competitive activity and analysis through monitoring of IRI database. •Analyze data on an ongoing basis and provide training support to National Account Managers•Develop and execute market specific presentations to assist field sales branded strategic directives. •Utilize external syndicated data software applications (IRI, Spectra, etc.) to produce and distribute standard monthly reports and address ad-hoc information requests for retailer/wholesaler presentations, Division meetings, internal business reviews, regional and national chain presentations, scorecards and business reviews. Thorough understanding of developing and executing strategy and tactics of category management. Develop templates, presentations and scorecards for consistent use throughout department and provide training to NAM’S in their use. Provide validation support analyzing and validating category business plans at the chain level.•Develop market specific syndicated data presentations to support strategic or annual objectives. Work with and train the field sales group in the execution of these program support tools.•Complete other special projects and assignments as designated by the Director{s} of National AccountsThis company provides a competitive compensation and benefits package, which includes both a long term and short term incentive bonus, 401k, profit sharing, tuition assistance, and great health benefits.Qualifications:•A Bachelor's Degree is required. A minimum of five years experience in the consumer packaged good industry or a syndicated data company.•Expertise with IRI, in-store audit data, applicable market research projects, Intercept Space Management Systems, Retail Link and Spectra, with at least three years hands on experience. Have advanced knowledge of retail sales reporting-Congos systems/availability. Maintain a level of “expertise” in all current systems and gain that same level with any systems additions. •Extensive experience with PC-based software (Excel, WordPerfect, PowerPoint) is required. •Requires strong situation analysis/problem solving skills along with strong knowledge of account planning and analysis, as they relate to distribution, pricing, promotions and profitability. Must understand the strategy and tactics of category management and to provide validation support in the field regarding assortment, pricing, promotion, feature/display support and lift and space initiatives. Must have the ability to establish clear objectives for account analysis projects and be self-initiating to ensure timely completion of requested projects. Should have the ability to synthesize information obtained from numerous sources to be included in key account planning, category management and data analysis and compiling of information for National Account Managers and Director’s presentations. •Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to transfer learned skills and methodology to other chain sales personnel. Must possess strong selling skills and be able to make chain headquarter presentations with National Account Managers and provide analytical information•Knowledge of retail delivery and impact of distributor operations on retail.•Adult beverage experience is definitely preferred.
