Director of Engineering

92113 Tremendous opportunity to join an exciting, start-up firm headquartered in the city as their first Director of Engineering! This firm has a veteran Founder / CEO who has multiple successes in his past, selling successfully start-ups to publicly traded companies. He needs this person to architect and lead all technical efforts behind his latest venture. Among the other selling points at this company is the idea that they understand the work/life balance sought after by so many people in today's market. While everyone works hard and intelligently during the day, this is not an environment where you are expected to put in 60-70 hour weeks. You will act as a "player/coach" in a hands-on capacity as you work to continue building critical business systems, while also contributing on the executive level for all things technology. Their current development team is outsourced offshore, but this person will lead the efforts to bring in-house most of that development over the coming months/years. Qualified candidates will have: Strong background in application/software development and proven leadership abilities. Technical expertise should be in the Java domain, and experience with other start-ups or small companies is highly preferred. Ideal candidates will have experience architecting and building financial systems responsible for the movement of funds.
