Placement Specialist
GCG Event Partners is a nationwide network of over 1000 independent On-Site Meeting Managers and Full-Service Event Planners. Due to recent growth, we are seeking a Placement Specialist. Our office is a quiet, work-focused environment located in a suburb north of Boston. As a proven, productive member of our team, the Placement Specialist will be expected to be available and flexible to accommodate for a fluctuating workload. The successful candidate will need to be accessible (for occasional phone calls with clients, members, etc.) outside of work hours on an occassional basis. The ideal candidate would have at least 3 years work experience and will have one or all of the following: Experience in event planning or meeting planning or a related industry. Experience in Human Resources. Experience in a for-profit Membership Organization. Experience in a Staffing or Temporary Employment Company.
The Placement Specialist will be responsible for: (a) Placing On-Site Management and staffing jobs with members of our network. The coordinator will work with the clients to identify the job description for each manager/staff and then will search our network for the most appropriately skilled member to perform the tasks. (b) Screening member applications. The coordinator will review resumes and applications, and interview candidates by phone to determine eligibility for membership. (c) Provide customer service to members. The coordinator will develop relationships with members and assist new members with the application process and educating members on our processes and standards. The coordinator will be available to answer general questions for members and prospective members. (d) Tracking all jobs and related work assignments. The coordinator will be responsible for administrative work associated with tracking all assignments, approving member fees, filing member paperwork, etc. (e) On-call coverage. The coordinator will carry a company cell phone and be available outside of work hours to respond to emergencies. (f) Order audio/visual equipment for some clients. The coordinator will contract with audio/visual companies nationwide and order equipment for individual meetings.
We are seeking an individual who is self-managed, self-motivated, flexible and people-oriented. The candidate must be able to multi-task, balance priorities, and take initiative. A can-do attitude is a must! This job requires proficiency with Word, Excel, and Access. The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills, including appropriate telephone etiquette; proven organizational skills; and ability to manage multiple projects in conjunction with normal job activities. The candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, whenever appropriate. The candidate should have the ability to apply common sense; to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for non-standardized situations. Knowledge of Continuing Medical Education requirements is a plus. Honesty, integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality are a must.
