QA Tester
Basic Functions:This individual performs all QA responsibilities within the IT department while. He/she will be expected to test all enhancements prior to being rolled-out into production unless otherwise stated by the CIO. In addition, the incumbent will be expected to keep all pertinent IT Directors informed of developments on the projects. He/she may also be expected to perform audit functions, such as writing or overseeing the writing of the application development life cycle methodology. He/she will be expected to prepare for and oversee software-testing efforts. Throughout all of these efforts, he/she will be expected to guide, promote, support, and enforce adherence to IT Policies and procedures. Responsibilities: · Test all enhancements developed within the IT department and validate the enhancements adhered to IT policies and procedures. · Analyzes user requirements, procedures and problems to automate or improve existing business process/application.· Confers with personnel to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems and learn specific input and output requirements such as forms of data output, how data is to be summarized and formats for reporting.· Writes detailed descriptions of test results that are both clear and easy to follow.· Reviews system capabilities, workflow and scheduling limitations to determine if the requested functionality is possible within the existing applications/enhancements.· Corrects system application errors after implementations.· Assists Programmer in resolution of issues related to project specifications or programming.· Directs and coordinates work of other project resources as required to meet project goals. Qualifications:A four-year degree or equivalent work experience is required. This person must have effective interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, and be able to multitask, manage details and execute effective follow through. Experience with web-based applications, database query tools, MS suite of products and strong analytical skills required. While this position calls for traditional business hours, off-hour, night and weekend testing will be necessary on occasion. Other responsibilities include running queries to analyze date, generating reports to support and facilitate operational workflows, reviewing and reporting of system errors, and providing general support to users. Skills:Minimum three to five years of business experience working in or with an I.T. organization in a QA related role or program developer role. The following skills are recommended:· Ability to plan, execute and control a project, establishing realistic estimates and reporting metrics. · Excellent organizational skills with the ability to plan, organize, delegate and control work. · Demonstrated ability to understand and balance technical issues/solutions.· Excellent skills as a communicator and facilitator, both written and oral.· Excellent presentation and meeting management skills.· Strong skills in MS Office, MS Project or an equivalent project management tool, and workflow or data flow diagramming tools. · Ability to estimate, plan, track, control costs, and provide status reporting. · Excellent knowledge of a system development methodology, through all of its phases and deliverables. · Ability to assess project risks and exposures; identify options and alternatives, make decisions, and implement corrective actions. · At least 2 years of IT Project Manager experience · Experience in life cycle system testing. · Mercury Automated testing experience.
