SENIOR EMS ENGINEER (5296)
Senior EMS ENGINEER (5296) Responsibilities:To develop, manage and maintain the computer systems necessary to support the electric utility operations 24/7 functions including EMS and systems interfaced to the EMS that provide advanced historical and accounting functionality. Provide programming to ensure system interface to supporting systems and user friendly system usage. Assist in the development of new Operations Systems, including requirement documentation, programming, de-bugging and user training. Provide on-going perations systems support of including: database and display updates; resolving issues identified by users (system operators and accounting analysts); and identifying opportunities to increase the effectiveness of the existing software and configuration. Support implementation of SCADA telemetry to include: specification, evaluation, implementation and configuration of RTU's and ICCP links; interact closely with EMS vendors and other third party technology vendors to ensure optimum system operation; Validate and ensure all system are current and replicate those at ERCOT. Perform preventative maintenance to enhance system availability and assist with periodic software release upgrades. Assist with development of and abide by procedures for increasing Cyber Security (NERC and ERCOT compliant), Change Management and other normal IT processes. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience and/or training in software development and support of real-time control systems. After a training period, must be willing to rotate into the 24/7 system software callout schedule. Must have extensive computer and software skills. The following experience or knowledge is desirable: GE XA/21 Real-Time Control Systems or other EMS systems, UNIX (IBM AIX and SUN Solaris), C/C++, Visual Basic, and Active Server pages programming Oracle 8i and above Relational database (Forms and Reports), SQL 2000, OSI Soft PI Data Historian (Process Book, Data Link), Perl Programming, Shell Programming, Network Monitoring Tools, SAN, EXCEED, TCP/IP, VB.NET.
