Sr. Mechanical Design Drafter (Inventor)

Senior Design Drafter, MechanicalPurpose and Principal Responsibilities:Using solid modeling and computer-aided design software develop and prepare engineering drawings and design layouts. Prepare or participate in the preparation and continued support of technical manuals. Work with various engineers and product managers to support project requirements. Create design layouts based upon accepted industrial processes and procedures under limited supervision within established schedules. Prepare and provide dimensional fabrication, and assembly drawings and shipping documentation and process releases thru company standards. Assist department management as needed and as directed, and perform any and all additional tasks as assigned by company management.Knowledge of:Have basic to complex knowledge of solid modeling using Autodesk INVENTOR software and able to model complete machines and detail part drawings also knowledgeable in AutoCAD release 2007.As related to the design of components, have knowledge of manufacturing processes; sheet metal fabrication including bend allowances, setbacks and flat pattern design; machine shop practices including CNC machining fabrication and turning center requirements.Knowledge of machine fits and clearances for bearings, bushings and press fits as applied to detailed drawings for part fabrication.Knowledge of drafting standards, welding symbols and geometric tolerancing symbols.Knowledge of basic math calculations and dimensional studies in the support of the development of engineering detailed drawings.Able to do layout takeoff to create detailed dimensional drawings and assisted design development Requirements: High school graduate along with Two-year technical degree or equivalent Three to five years experience in drafting including two years at design drafting level.
