Company Description Prominent music firm Job Description Responsibilities for the System Administrator include: Performing timely updates of server operating systems, hardware bios, patches and fixes Ensuring the security of servers and company data Performing maintain, support and test system backups Maintaining virtual server environments and storage area networks Troubleshoot and resolve all server operational and connectivity problems Ensuring proper software licensing and equipment levels including support plans & maintenance renewals Maintaining all server infrastructure equipment in North America Maintaining 99.5% system availability Identifying and evaluate new technologies for use by the company Communicating project and issues status with management Documenting support calls and project related tasks for future reference Developing and maintain proper system documentation, policies and procedures Monitoring system logs and activity on all servers and devices Providing complete server hardware and software support Providing installation, maintenance, and integration support for PCs Managing the resolution of all server infrastructure problems Equipment requisition Prepare budgets for server & related equipment including cost justifications Liaising with global counterparts to ensure consistent deployment methodology, strategy and operational procedures of equipment Having excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills Required Skills Strong sense of urgency and ownership Must be very detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills. High regard for potential effects of actions to the business and user community Effective and strong hardware/software troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Ability to work independently Fundamental understanding of the TCP/IP Protocol and routing principles including bridges, routers, switches, vlans and supporting protocols (DNS, DHCP, SLP, WINS, etc) Client/server communication protocols.
